However, did you know that there are several types of chilli sauce from various countries which also have a texture and taste that is almost the same as the Indonesian chilli sauce. Gochujang

This typical South Korean sambal is made from glutinous rice and chilli powder fermented with soybeans. Fermentation usually takes up to 6 months in a special container to get a distinctive taste and aroma. Because fermented for a long time, the starch in glutinous rice turns into sugar. This is what makes the taste of gochujang sweet. Apart from being a condiment, gochujang can be used as a mixture of traditional Korean foods such as tteokbokki or kimchi.
Wasabi
If you’ve ever eaten sushi, you know wasabi. This green pasta with a spicy taste is best eaten with sushi. The spicy taste of wasabi is different from the chilli. Instead of heat in the mouth, wasabi heat usually affects the nose and nasal passages. In contrast to the long-lasting heat of chilli peppers, the heat of wasabi tends to dissipate quickly.
Sriracha
Sriracha is a spicy sauce originating from Si Racha, a town in Chonburi, eastern Thailand. Sriracha is made from a mixture of chilli peppers, vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt. These ingredients are then mashed into a paste and fermented for some time to strengthen the taste. Sriracha has a more sour taste due to the influence of vinegar in it. The sour taste is also enhanced by the fermentation process. Therefore sriracha is suitable to be used as a dip.
Salsa
Salsa is actually a term to describe a typical Latin American and Spanish sauce. Salsa is generally spicy and fresh, although some are spicy-sweet. This sauce can be used as a dip for food or used as a seasoning for food mixtures. Unlike chilli sauce in general, salsa is made from a mixture of various vegetables and spices such as tomatoes, onions, garlic, and various other spices. Some of the famous types of salsa are guacamole, pico de gallo, chipotle salsa, salsa rojas, and salsa verde.
Chilli oil
Maybe some of us are already familiar with chili oil. Chili oil is one of the favourite types of chilli sauce in China. This sambal is made from vegetable oil, various kinds of dried chilies such as Chinese red pepper and Sichuan pepper, and added spices according to taste. Usually, chilli oil is served as a condiment in hot pot menus, noodles, stir-fries, and salads.
